This course defines and distinguishes opioid use disorder (OUD) from physical dependence. It highlights the importance of assessment and reassessment to identify strategies to manage risks for opioid misuse.  Warning signs for opioid misuse, treatment options, harm reduction strategies and screening tools to tailor care to older adults are also discussed.
