Health Equity and Global Health
HIGN addresses the effects of poverty, food insecurity, racism and other systemic issues impacting older adults by partnering with communities here and abroad to identify those issues and develop solutions. This work includes: 1) studying the impact of race/ethnicity, urban-rural and socioeconomic status on health outcomes, the risk factors on cognitive and physical function, and mental health; 2) evaluating long-term care policy and system development; and 3) using evidence to educate those in legislation and policy to address the needs of vulnerable aging populations.
