This course explains how person and family-centered care (PFCC) differs from other models of care.

Overview

After completing this course, practitioners will be able to recognize why PFCC is especially important in providing care for older adults (including those with cognitive impairments), and will understand how to engage individuals, family members, and caretakers in this model of care.

  1. Define person and family centered care.
  2. Describe practices that promote person and family centered care.
  3. Describe how the direct care workforce can help promote a meaningful life and optimal function for older adults.
  4. Describe the importance of culturally sensitive and appropriate care to older adults.
