Fall Prevention

1. Reduce preventable falls (accidental and anticipated physiological falls) and serious injury in hospitalized older adults.

2. Mitigate and eliminate multifactorial risks and causes of falls in older adults.

3. Implement fall prevention and management consistent with best available evidence, clinical practice guidelines, and standards of care that are age specific and population based.

Emergency Department Care

To ensure nurses in acute care are able to:

A.  Identify evidence-based approaches and tools to assess the older adult in the Emergency Department (ED)

B.  Describe interventions to prevent and manage geriatric syndromes in the ED

C.  Discuss approaches to support effective transitions from the ED
